The Marshal Mannerheim Heritage Foundation was founded in 1973 to uphold and treasure the memory of late Marshal Mannerheim. In addition, the foundation supports war history research of the Finnish wars as well as the training of Finnish officers.
The initial capital to the foundation came from the delegation who commissioned the commemorative statue of Marshal Mannerheim. The statue is located in downtown Helsinki and depicts the Marshal on his horse.
Annually, the foundation observes the Marshal’s death anniversary on January 28th in Hietaniemi cemetery and his birth anniversary, June 4th at the statue. The foundation also arranges other events about the late Marshal and his life.
